Who
doesn’t know him? Hell yeaahh, Denny Caknan!
The
number-one Javanese artist right now!
Denny
Caknan was born on December 10, 1993. The guy who ever became a street sweeper
before becoming this popular, is a proud singer of his (East) Javanese language.
In most of his songs, he uses Javanese. Isn’t is such a real deed to preserve Javanese
language?
In
his very young age, he has made up greatly in Indonesian music industry.
Started with “Kartonyono Medhot Janji”
which was released on May 5, 2019, he has repeatedly made booming songs such as
Sugeng Dalu, Los Dol, etc. Fyi, Kartonyono Medhot Janji has got 209 million views on youtube. It’s such a
record in Indonesian music history. Some awards like Lagu Patah Hati Terbaik (The Best Brokenhearted Song), Lagu Patah Hati Favorit (The Favorite
Brokenhearted Song) and Penyanyi
Terambyar Pria Terbaik (The Most Ambyar*
Male Singer) were also already achieved by him.
Denny
Caknan obviously makes some breakthroughs in his creations. In his song Ndas Gerih, he put some traditional music
sounds in some parts. In Tanpo Tresnomu,
there was a “touch” of saxophone.
In
his newest song, Angel, Caknan even
made some unique improvisations. The saxophone sound in the beginning of the
song and the reggae nuance in some parts, are completely perfect! More, the music
video is mind blowing! He did a collaboration with H.M. Syakirun aka Kirun (a
senior comedian in Indonesia) and Mbah Minto, the commercial star of Bejo Jahe Merah. It is really too funny
to be real, you have to check this out if you haven’t. Having a duet with Cak
Percil, this song has got 15-million views on youtube in not more than 2
months!
His
song before Angel entitled Satru, which was made with Happy Asmara
even got 52 millions in only 4 months. Crazy! It seems not too much to say that
he is a genius in musical field.
What
makes Denny Caknan special is not only about his ability in singing and making
songs (we shouldn’t question about this,
right?), but also his willing to show up the characteristics of his own hometown;
Ngawi, East Java. Kartonyono Medhot Janji
and Ngawi Nagih Janji (which he sang
with Ndarboy Genk) are the examples of this. Kartonyono itself is actually a
monument with the shape of eight elephant ivories in one of Ngawi’s intersection.
In some of his other music videos, we can also see many Ngawi icons there.
Can
you imagine, how proud are East Javanese peeps of him? I bet their prides are
overwhelming!
Well,
keep it up, Denny Caknan! Stay productive all the time.
Bring
Javanese language into all over the world! There’s no doubt you’ll be a
dinosaur of Javanese songs someday. Finger crossed!
