Answer-key Orientation on Student’s Test

I just had a chance to read the test result of my nephew’s who is on the first grade of primary school. Sadly, I found a question which was so key-oriented.

The question was as below (the real one is in Bahasa Indonesia);
Orange is my favorite fruit. The colour of orange is... a) yellow, b) orange, c) green.”
My nephew “luckily” answered option a), yellow, and his answer was correct.
I can say that it was so ironic since I am sure everyone must have ever seen orange in those three colors! Further, there is no specific description of what kind of orange that the question meant.

This is not the first time I read such question. Another nephew of mine who was on fourth grade once, also got the same question type. If I am not mistaken, the question of his test was (in Bahasa Indonesia);
“Mother went to the market buying... a) vegetable, b) medicine, c) shoes.” Which one is the correct answer in your opinion? My nephew chose vegetable for the answer and it was correct according to the teacher (or the answer key, I don’t know). If I were the student who got the same question, I might cross all the answers, for all those three things do exist in market, obviously. Another question I found was;
“On Sundays, children are lazy to… a) get up early b) bathe c) do exercise.” How about the diligent children who are always enthusiastic to do those things then?  Aren’t they “forced” to be lazy on Sundays?

I can say that this is an ironic phenomena since it still happens when today curriculum emphasizes on creative learning way. The goal of the curriculum is aimed for a betterment, I am sure. The problem is whenever the application is not in the same way.

It will be better if the questions (especially in multiple choice form) for students are not ambiguous and subjective. The question and answer should be clear, logical and not answer key-oriented as well. If the questions like I stated above unluckily still appears, teachers should be tollerant and be willing to examine each option carefully, whether there are other possibilities of the correct answer or not. Hopefuly, through this effort, students will be open minded and  stay creative on their thinking way.
